The Summit Nature Center is a cooperative between the Flathead National Forest and Whitefish Mountain Resort. Located on the lower level of the Summit House, the Nature Center is a fun and educational experience for adults and kids alike. Test your knowledge of animal footprints, take a wildflower hike with a Forest Service Naturalist, or learn how to travel safely in bear country.

Children ages 7-12 are invited to become Junior Forest Rangers (a free title that includes an official badge and certificate) by completing an activity book obtained at the nature center.

Families are encouraged to borrow an Outdoor Adventure Pack from the nature center and explore the outdoors. The pack contains field guides and materials to help families learn together in a fun and informal setting.

Guided naturalist hikes are offered during July & August at 11am and 3pm, offering an opportunity to learn about the flora and fauna native to Montana's alpine ecosystem.
